Weaving Histories
2021
The Hanging Chairs, project called Weaving Histories, is a site-specific installation commissioned for the opening of 25hours Hotel One Central in Dubai. Composed of three large hanging chairs, the work merges art and design to offer a space of rest, reflection and sensory experience.
Suspended in the hotel lobby, the chairs evoke protective, nest-like forms. They invite a pause from movement and a moment of subtle introspection. Their spiral structure and layered textiles suggest memories, transformation and continuity.
Inspired by nomadic identities and intercultural exchange, the installation creates a symbolic shelter that invites reflection on shared origins and the ongoing journey of life.
Weaving Histories is a story woven through presence and encounter. A gesture of connection shaped by the passing voices, bodies and experiences of those who move through it.
