Hovel

—2014—

This work consists of an ovoid volume of 190 cm height by 160 cm width and 170 cm depth, built from branches and industrial materials (remains of pipes and plastics, hoses, cables, wire, ropes, etc.) found in the periphery of the city of Santiago, Chile.

The materials were classified and organised into growing and decreasing rings, which were assembled so as to form a largescale nest. The sculpture is an abstract image of the city, a metaphor of the city as a nest. With its linear forms, it seeks to represent boundaries that surround and contain the city.
